Comtech Comet troposcatter system

The Comtech Compact Over-the-Horizon Transportable Terminal (COMET™) is the smallest and lightest modular man-packable troposcatter system available, weighing only 50 lbs in an operational configuration and settable by one person. It provides Beyond-Line-of-Sight (BLOS) communications for distances up to 60 km and beyond, offering data rates from 5 to 60 Mbps and is interoperable with other Comtech terminals for various applications, including military, disaster recovery, and emergency restoral.

Key Capabilities

  • Troposcatter can provide LOS, NLOS, and BLOS
  • Troposcatter has a higher survivability than Microwave
and SATCOM because of its multipath reception and
    highly sensitive receivers.
  • Troposcatter provides inherent LPG/LPI/LPD/LPE based
on the scattered nature of its signal
  • Operates in satellite congested or denied environments.
  • Troposcatter is a low latency transmission typically
    operating between 6-8m
  • In conjunction with DSSS Troposcatter can operate as
low as 50uw (microwatts). This is 100 times less than
LOS systems. There are no SAR’s with Troposcatter…it’s
    all free bandwidth
